Tulusa is a textile design business that specializes in block printing and creating home goods and personal accessories. I like to keep my textiles light, bright, and pretty, with an end goal of providing well-made, beautiful products that my clients will cherish and love to give as gifts.
Creative Work Space
Having a home studio is really important because it allows me to get right into work as soon as I send my two boys off to school. Although it’s in the garage, it was built as a modern space with tons of natural light. There is a glass garage door that gives me a full view of the garden and offers a sweet space to sit and take a break.
Inside we’ve built in storage and shelves, making it a space that is both functional and pretty. I’ve surrounded myself with the color of my textiles and plants, so it has become my own personal oasis and where I want to spend most of my time.
One of my favorite things is an old school drafting table that we bought for $50 from a business that was selling their older pieces. I use that drafting table daily. It’s high enough and large enough for me to print large pieces of fabric, and it is the center point of the studio.
Staying Organized
Lists, lists, lists! While I like to work in an organic way, doing what I feel like doing on any given day, I know I need concrete systems to help me stay on track. Working this way, my business has grown rather quickly.
